From a quick look on the www here http://www.kramerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40470 suggests getting a "normal" knob and gluing the bottle cap on top.

Bezdez on ebay (a great seller - check out the other items) sells bushings you can use to make your own knobs http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BUSHING-PARTS-MAKING-YOUR-OWN-CUSTOM-GUIT...

I would suggest making a wood knob and gluing the cap to it, what's the point if you already have a real knob.

I just started doing this. I took a wooden broom handel, drilled in from the top as long as my bit would go,( bit sould be the size of your pot/ post. I the took the handle to my jig saw and cut about 1/4" - 1/2" size pieces, to which I glue the bottle cap.

This was my first time doing this. i'm open to suggestions... btw it seemed to work well.

I agree, knobs aint cheap. And thats the name of the game.

Exactly the way to do it! Wish I had thought of the broom handle, good going.

I tried doing this one quick with bmy hand saw, and it came out a little rough. I reccomend a table or chop saw. But you get the idea. You can drill them out individually as well, same results.

Well my old sherline lathe can pop a hole in center of most any small diameter so that is not a problem.

How cool!  Thanks!  I have a bid on some vintage beer bottle caps on ebay right now.
