Taffy Evans replied to Chris's discussion Need advice
"Hi, more break angle over the saddle and nut will add a bit more tension on the strings. but possibly not doable now guitar is finished. I would be going up a gage of strings or two until I find the tension that works. As mentioned knowing the scale…"

Taffy Evans replied to Snuffy Smith's discussion Will a CBG fit into a standard ukulele case?
"One of my customers bought a padded gig bag for his CBG, he did not know what it was originally meant for. I suspect it may have been for a baritone uke. But it would depend on the scale/neck length of the CBG. Cheers Taff"

Taffy Evans replied to Toban's discussion Choosing a finish

Taffy Evans replied to Toban's discussion Choosing a finish
"Hi, I find the thickness of shellac coats is really governed by the ratio of shellac flakes to metholated spirits and the number of coats applied. I use a thickness that possibly could not be measured. And light sanding between coats gives a very…"

Taffy Evans replied to Toban's discussion Choosing a finish
"Hi all, I am surprised that nobody has used Shellac. probably one of the oldest finishes. Easy to mix as required Easy to apply by brush or pad Dries very quick easily sandable great for pore /grain filling Ok under most finishes I've used I…"
