Started this discussion. Last reply by Timothy Hunter Nov 2, 2017. 6 Replies

I am probably the last to know but I just discovered backing tracks. Tons of them on YouTube such as slow blues in G. Now I need to try to learn some solo riffs. Anyone have any favorite tracks to…Continue

What do you do with your cut off pieces?

Started this discussion. Last reply by RTZGUITARS Oct 9, 2017. 29 Replies

I have now filled a fourth box of short pieces from a inch or two up to maybe a foot.  Any good ways to store these, or do you toss/burn them or do something else?  They can always be used for a…Continue

Tuner Hole Save

Started this discussion. Last reply by Kigar Sep 5, 2017. 3 Replies

Thought I'd share a goof up that ended up with an easy save.  I am working on a build using the cheap tuners you can see in the picture.  Through some bad layout skills the angled tuner is opposite…Continue

Fell off the horse - bad planning or maybe bad wood

Started this discussion. Last reply by john mackay Dec 30, 2016. 5 Replies

I was drilling large tuner holes for a u-bass cbg when the wood let go.  Only real harm was the time lost and the small piece of wood, but some anger management was required.  Not sure if it was the…Continue

"Hi Tim, for a two stringer, you can rotate the 1x2 and make it narrower and deeper, carve it round to 1 1/4" or so.   As it is narrow it still fits the hand ok.  This also lets you cut the relief for the tuners easily."

License Plate Guitar

Posted on January 31, 2016 at 9:35pm 6 Comments

Thought I'd post this one, it was my second build.  Box was scrap hardwood flooring, the tongue side made a great recess for the plate.  The bottom is scrap thin ply of unknown origin.  The neck is the unique feature, it is half of a hickory branch that was originally intended for a bow but I decided the the knots and kink are beyond my bowyer abilities.  The kink made the string break for the tuners.  The action is no action, with the curvy branch it is slide only for this one.  I passed…
