So, my second build after I got done doing some mods to it (adding a ground wire to the pickup and ran it to the strings was one of those mods) noticed it has a fairly weak output. Is this just the…Continue

"What's up Rafael? I appreciate that you liked my build #6. That was actually my first fretted instrument, I have built a couple of other guitars for a couple of people and would be willing to do another if anyone was interested."

Profile Information

How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?
Just searching and browsing online. It's basically one of the top 10 hits you get back when you search cigar box guitars on google.
How many instruments have you built so far?
I've built one three string, which is finished and playable, a fully slide instrument though and totally acoustic, but still want to do some work to it. I am also in the beginning stages of building my first four string which will be electric.
What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).
Foremost, I have always been obsessed with guitars and music and anything that goes with it. I had a guitar that is hotrodded, and I enjoyed taking it apart and putting it all back together again. I had a couple of decent wood cigar boxes laying around and for some reason I thought, "I'm going to make cigar boxes out of these. I've only built one so far and am a total novice but, I find the fact that they are a fairly rudimentary and simple to make very interesting, but the tones that come from these things just speaks to me. I've only been at it for a few weeks but am hooked, I literaly can not stop thinking about cigar box guitars. It's hard because I still love my six-string but there is something new and refreshing about learning and instrument that you can build and essentially teach yourself how to play. I'm babbbling, I'm sorry. But yea I thing everything about these instruments is awesome. It is seriously like an addiction.

Hi Joe, how you're doing? Thanks for the request, I liked your CBG #6. I would like to have one just this size, at the moment the only CBG I have is kind of a baritone, and the it was built by a luthier friend of mine it can only be played like a regular guitar, by pressing the strings on the fretboard. Now I'm looking for a new one with higher action, to play with a slide ina more a more spanky way. Do you build guitars only for yourself?

Thanks for the friend request, Joe. I'm always happy to have more friends on CBN. I'm more than glad to accept and looking forward to seeing more of your builds and playing. You did a fantastic job on the build you showed on video so definitely looking forward to more. Have a great rest of the week my friend!
