Hi

Just finished my first build and it cost me less than a tenner. I used door hinges that have been in the tool box for years, an off cut from builders yard and some washers. Got me box of ebay and a transducer from electric shop. Its cheap and dirty but thats how i like me music

Cure for feedback (w/thanks to Witchita Sam [I think]):

My last build featured a pair of series-linked piezos which fed back when brought anywhere near an amp. I was bummed. Then I remembered that somebody (Witchita Sam, I think?) was playing with piezos mounted externally, set in caulk, an arrangement which was said to be feedback-resistant.

I don't have forstner bits, and I don't like the sound of mouse-pad wrapped pickups, so I tried remounting the pickups on a thin skin of caulk, with another skimmed over the top.

Short story: cured my feedback problem, and I haven't noticed an appreciable drop in the warmer tones.

two per bolt. one embedded in each rail of the slotted headstock

Yes, the bolt "turns in" as the string wraps up sorta following the threads. self-locks nuts (with the plastic inserts) are enough to handle the tension.
