Great idea!
My personal favorite sanding tool though is the humble Emory Board (the disposable sticks you use to polish and finish fingernails). For the final bits of fret beveling and polishing they are invaluable! Also, you can cut them into slender splinters and sand tiny joins and crannies, plus they have both Rough (100 grit) and Smooth(250 grit) sides...
