Missing Ground on Cigar Box Bass??

You need to run a ground from the volume pot to the jack. Just a simple wire soldered to the case of the volume pot to the jack should work. Try to google a wiring diagram for a single pick-up and a…

band saw or table saw?

Buy used and buy both. Craigslist, pawnshops etc. You can do it with the same money if you shop around. Just gonna get one? Bandsaw ... no doubt. You can make decently straight cuts w/ a bandsaw, but…

How to tune 4 string CBGs?

Going back to the original post, that does seem to be the point. I would be he's talking to people with some sort of musical background or knowledge. Now with pure noobs, it wouldn't really make a…

Do most of you glue your frets for assurance, or just tap them in?

Glue will just cause problems later on. I use narrow/low mando wire, so it'll wear quicker than your med/med, but if the cbg is played as much as it's supposed to be, it will eventually need to be re…

The point is something familiar to regular guitar players. Bottom 4 - DGBE. Works with the same chords as a regular guitar, minus the top 2 strings. It gets easier. It's also the same tuning as a baritone uke ( as noted earlier). Same chords, so all…

The uke from hades is proving itself. It was in a local guitar shop, I picked it up to take it to a festival ...... and it has issues ... maybe caused by rough handling.

I like to use a Danelectro Fish&Chips. It's a 7 band eq pedal. You can add a little bass , boost the mids full and cut the treble to really round out the sound. I 've had mine a few years, but itwas like 38 bucks. Matt

A good handsaw and patience will be waaaaaaaaaaaay faster than the surform, rasp and sandpaper. You're gonna have to shape and sand after you get the basic thicknewss right anyway. Matt

You'll find that most here do it from scratch. I've built 1 .... Senor Frog Indian Tabac Uke Blue Helix Nothing commercial except strings and tuners. It has been done, but IMHO, it would be easier to do from scratch. Matt

While they aren't 7 grand gits, I'll take all I can find for 35 bucks. Those things are like gold around here and one in decent shape will bring $100.00. Matt btw- There isn't a git in the WORLD I would pay 7 grand for. And I live 30 er so miles…

hey matt dude i use screws to attach the neck from the front of the box and from the back of the box. the neck goes inside the box at least 1/3rd of the way to half way in the box. with the neck attached that way it kinda kills some of the vibration from the box but i count on the cans to produce the sound. this is a responce to yer question about the tri-can resonator,in the group how good can it sound unplugged.
