I'm building a ukulele for a friend.  I found this great little souvenir teaspoon.  I want to cut off and discard the bowl of the spoon, flatten what's left, and stick it to the middle of the headstock between the tuner posts.  It's pretty small so I can't screw it down and it's also not totally flat on the abck, so Krazy Glue wouldn't be a good option.  I'd usually think epoxy but that might run a bit and look bad.

What would you use to neatly and permanently stick the spoon to the headstock?

Thanks,

Scott

You could try double sided tape (the foam kind). If you cut it to the exact shape of the spoon handle and head, it shouldn't look funky.

Another idea would be to trace the shape onto the head stock then carefully remove some material so the spoon is slightly recessed in the head stock. That would allow you to use epoxy without worry of it running all over.

A third way would be to epoxy some thin wood strips to the back side. That way you could clean away excess epoxy. Once the epoxy is set, you could use s drop or two of super glue to glue the wood to the head stock. There should be no messy run off with this method.

Lots of options.

I’ve got a bit of a time crunch so I don’t think i’ll Have time to carve into the headstock, but that would look great.  Tape is a possibility but I think the idea of mounting to a small piece of wood is great.  Much easier to control things on a smaller piece. It will also add a nice accent piece of wood

Thanks,

scott

Loctite Go2 is awesome stuff, I use it for soundhole covers and sticking on decorative stuff like this...

There are new adhesives coming along all the time. This sounds like great stuff.

That Go2 might be my best bet.  I already have a drawer full of other stuff from them :)

Hi, I use the adessive sheets used to fit guitar pickguards, cut to shape and then peel the backing off. I can see a couple of places where  tuning machine screws would fit, they have a nice neat dome head. Or experiment on scrap with the glue you have..

Cheers taff

Adhesive sheets sounds good. I can get screws through, but I’d like to keep it cleaner looking if I can.

How about... Flatten the bowl of the spoon, and drill small screw hole for tuner sized screw.

The bowl is super thin crap, not worth saving.

Depending on headstock length and desired placement  .   you may be able to just  drill a hole  into the end of the fretboard (or groove in bottom of fretboard )  and jam the cut end of the spoon  in the  super glued hole .

Loctite Go2 / clear Gorilla glue

Korrigan that box is sick!!!!

Thanks Brian.  : )
