Hey, I saw a guy at a fair type thing playing a cigar box guitar a few weeks ago and the sound was beautiful. So I looked around and finally decided to buy one for myself from Back Porch Mojo.

It's going to be 3 or 4 weeks before he's through making it, but I figured I'd introduce myself here anyway. Might try my hand at building one too, just have to see. I have been working on something similar with an altoids can, I'll post pics when it's done if anyone's interested.

Welcome aboard Toasterburn (great name, like it)

Post those pictures man - we are all picture junkies on here! Its inspiring to see what everyone else in the nation is up to.

I will also wager you have one of your own built before your Back Porch box arrives!! lol
well, I'm almost done with my altoids tin two-string deal, I'll put up some pictures today or tomorrow. It's going to be more of toy then anything though, I really doubt I can get any kind of intonation out of it, but I needed something to play with until I get my back porch mojo.
Hey toastburn,

Welcome. Altoids cans make great instruments. Have fun with it.
Welcome Toasterburn. Good choice on the back porch mojo, Darren does quality work. I'm sure you'll be building your own cigar box guitars soon enough as well. Feel free to ask questions, this is a helpful bunch around here.

Had a little time today to put finishing touches on my project, only took a few hours all together to make it. I'm rather proud of it. Like I said, it's more or less a toy, but it does play. Here are a few pics:

Not too bad really, I can pick out simple tunes on it. I'll try to make a video later.
here's a quick vid of me playing it:
