I aquired several of the snow white H.Upmann boxes. You know the ones. Deep box, thin lid, and the most unstrategically place warning label ever. Upper left hand corner....geez.

In a word, peanut butter. Oops, two words. Anyway. Try it.....

I peeled the label as best I could until only he glue and fuzz remained. Be careful not to penetrate the paper covering, as this will let the oil from the peanut butter penetrate into the paper and leave a small stain. Not fatal, but better if avoided.

Gently rub the PB into the fuzz and you will feel the glue start to let go. Might take a little coaxing, but it will let go.

Lick, err wipe the peanut butter of with a swipe of diluted windex to get the oil off. If you don't, it will continue to creep into the paper cover.

Hey, it gets gum out of kids hair. Seemed like a good idea.

By the way. If this is the oldest trick in the book, just don't tell me. I drove like a madman to get home from work to try my "new" idea.....

A less messy method that doesn't waste my second favorite food (pb) is to carefully cut paper hinge (or remove brass hinge is it has them) and flip lid....good as gold. But yes, I agree that those warning labels are awful.

Well played sir. It was getting tedious picking the big pieces out of the chunky PB anyway. It was the only way I could get the grit right. Kind of smacking my forehead for not looking IN the box. Noted.

mineral spirits also works

I leave them on the box. It IS, after all, a cigar box.

But good information to have,

I like to remove them as well, goo gone seems to work pretty well or even rubbing alcohol and gentle but persistent rubbing get the glue off too.

I normally use Goo-Gone as well-but then I print my own replacement warning labels to place over the same spot, so I guess I could peel them by hand without worry if I felt like it.

The usual Faux-warning states: 'WARNING-use of this device has been known to cause death in Fascists'. Dates me, I know... :P

Try some vegetable oil, it works when the labels are glued to laqcuered surfaces.
