Greetings folks, I've just been approved minutes ago. I'm wanting to build a 3 string CBG with a diatonic neck. Problem is, I just don't have the tools to build or fret the neck.

I've been searching all over to buy one. I found a website that had what I wanted, Crossroads Mojo, but I'm not sure if that is an active site anymore, it looks pretty quiet and I haven't gotten a reply from the owner on a question.

Does anyone know where I can buy these necks? I'll need hardware etc. also, but it doesn't seem to be too difficult to find. Thanks in advance!

Ebay has both diatonic necks and fretboards available, and might find them on CB. Gitty's site. If that doesn't work, find Jay Gilliam at tinyguitars.tk...he does great work.

I've searched eBay, found fretboards, found necks...just not finding a fretted neck. I'll drop an e-mail to tinyguitars. Thanks.

all you need to do fretting is a small saw a plastic hammer and some files. if you have a harbor freight near you you can get everything you need for less then $20

Well, I just ordered all the parts I need except the necks. I guess I'll go to Home Depot and pick up some 1x2s and see what sort of damage I can do.

its really a lot easier then it looks. hardest part is getting the spacing correct. if you have a guitar you can do a direct copy of the spacing, if not youll have to use one of the online calculators to get it right

heres the saw i use to cut frets, it works awesome http://www.harborfreight.com/japanese-flush-cut-saw-39273.html

So many to choose from, but none are diatonic.  I'd second the suggestion of contacting Jay, AKA tinyguitars.  He's a member here.

Have a go at making one. I could make you a neck, but as perhaps 80% of the labour of a cigar box guitar in the neck, it wouldn't be cheap...so my advice is have a go and save yourself lots of money. Here's one I made earlier (I'm in the UK) and sent to the USA. This one has a double course on the top, but in all other respects is a regular diatonic fretted CBG.

I concur.

Everybody is reluctant to try fretting. Just do it!
Someone here will hold your hand :)

Ill make you one too but the shipping will kill it. At the price of buying one you can afford to fail several before you nail it (which you won't) and to be honest, building with someone else's neck isn't really building, it's just assembling. You can do it! A million others no smarter than you already have
Orrrrr...buy the fretted neck from Gitty. Then just play at the diatonic frets >:-E.

You could also remove the ones you don't "need".

But the other replies are right. Try a couple on some cheap HD poplar 1x2. Get yerself a Harbor Freight Japanese pull saw, buy some fret wire from Gitty, get a builder's try square, and Nike away ("Just do it."). Look at Dan Sleep's fretting video here on CBN. Follow the fretting guide Gitty puts in with the fret wire. You can do this.

https://www.cbgitty.com/cubecart/fretting-supplies/fretting-guides....                       is this what you need ???

what  i mean to say is it is !!!    i got this my self , and its all the information / direction/ resources, any one could ask for , and it from the sight owner to boot

Another option is to just keep it simple. You can make a very playable fretted neck with just a piece of 1x2 and some toothpicks.

That is a pretty interesting idea. I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of that, I use toothpicks for all sorts of things. I did go ahead and order the fretting wire though, after a bit more reading and encouragement, I think I'll manage to do this :)
