I stumbled onto something new tonight. I was going to use an iron on transfer to put a name on my guitar headstock using 'Paintworks T-Shirt Transfers". I have used these in the past by designing my transfer, printing it on the computer printer, then soaking it in water and rubbing the back (paper) from the transfer, letting it dry and then applying it. Well for some reason the ink bleed this time so I though I would print another and give it a light coat of Polly to set the ink. As I was in a hurry to use it, I tried to dry the Polly with the hair dryer. With the dryer on high heat for about 1 minute, the transfer separated from the paper on its own. This is a big time saver and leaves no chance for the ink to run. Then I gave the headstock a light misting of Polly and let it set for about 3 minutes to get slightly tacky. I dropped the transfer into place and presses it down. After it dries I will give it 5 or 6 more coats to seal it down. You see the reflection of light on the transfer as I didn't use a flash when taking the picture. It will blend in perfectly. SO when using transfer paper from now on, use a hair dryer to separate the paper from the decal.

Time saver eh? Takes 45 seconds for water slide paper to soak up and slide off. Just saying,,,,.
Where can you get water slide paper that you can print on with a computer printer that just slides off?
call your local office supply or crafts stores

Hobby Lobby sells small sheets in the Estes model rocket section. You can buy 8x10 sheets on line all over the web. It's called water slide paper.
I print my logo, spray it with clear lacquer spray bomb, dries in 15 seconds, soak, slide, dab dry, let dry a few hours, cover a few coats with my favorite finish, and it is clear, blends right in and not cloudy as yours appears in your photo, sorry for the critique.
my Staples say they have never heard of paper that will do what I want it do do. I was told that is where to get it, but they don't have anything. Can you give me a UPC # that I can give them?
Staples told me the same thing. I found that if I went to Google, and searched for the words " water slide paper" I got a few hits.
not the best picture, but they are clear.

My transfers are clear. They are reflecting the light coming through my garage door as they are shinny and the wood isn't. I will try Hobby Lobby for water slide paper next time. It should be a thinner transfer and not take as much Polly over it to smooth the finish. I though I would try Polly this time as with nitro you have to be careful what your guitar comes in contact with.
Thanks for the info
EBAY! Waterslide transfer paper - clear or white background (white for dark surfaces, clear for pale surfaces), for laser or inkjet printers - fast, sharp and proffessional!

Dang... must buy some!!
Hi,

I have bought some of the waterslide paper of ebay uk and found it a pain having to spray with several coats of varnish then wait...Also I have found the varnish coat lifts if they are not used quickly.

I now use the waterslide paper from lazertran - inkjet paper you print, wait for the ink to dry, then apply and then do your final lacquer.
The website is http://www.lazertran.com/ and it has a USA and a UK on-line shop (costs $20 for ten 8.5 x 11 inches sheets)
If I'm not mistaken, Walmart sells water slide paper. It's in the toy section with the model kits. It comes with the paper, and a can of waterproofer.
