Very nice. Having separate channels for each neck is sweet. Definitely having them tuned differently but related is a great approach. You know, you should consider doing an instructional video explaining in more detail your use of modes. I have seen middle eastern instruments using "intonated" frets (I am not sure of the technical name for this guitar fretting method). You are on to something here. If you can figure out how to market it, it may be nicely received. This video is nice, but it may be too confusing for a non music theory exposed audience. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy.

Thanks Larry, Randy... Yes Larry ur right, the few frets I have in there which do not reach either fingerboard edge are indeed the trickiest.. Ones which reach one of the ends can be cut overlength and finished up like usual. Obviously u need to put the camber on the end before u seat them. Way trickier than part frets is part slots. On my first split fret build i slotted right thru, but i think the result is kinda amateur
so for my second i dremelled em
but the bit was a wee bit too fat, the little frets needed super glue.. so for this one what i did was i started with the fingerboard a little over thick, and sawed slots like usual but pretty shallow.. then i thinned a cheap chisel right out to paper thin on a grinder and used that, then sanded the initial slots out if u follow.. anyway yeah man go for it, it can be done :)

Jef, freakin outstanding. I'm completely intrigued by the split frets and modal scales, which pretty much go hand-in-glove, right? I have a hard enough time getting my full length frets in the fingerboard. How do you get a short fret into the middle of yours? Congrats, Jef. It really sounds phenomenal.

Thanks so much all of u, im really flattered, to be honest i wasnt too happy at all with the vid and wouldve had another crack or two at it but I'm sure u heard I had my daughter at the time and I like to really make the most of all my time with her even tho dont misunderstand, I have her a lot, fifty percent of the time..
If any of u ever have any questions about the 'smart' stereo circuit or splitting frets or weird modal scales dont hesitate to message me, Im at ur service.. All the best.. :)

BLOODY BRILLIANT! It's fascinating how, by capoing the partially fretted necks, the instrument goes from ethereal sounding, almost non western tones to an almost roots-y sound. It looks very comfortable to play as well. One of the things I find very interesting about microtonal scales (at least the one I designed and, from all accounts, yours as well) is how pleasant sounding chords become. That isn't to say you won't have dissonance (depending on the open string tunings, of course) but the sounds ARE rather pleasant in an impressionistic sort of way. BRAVO to a fine build all around! The sails are set, the sun is up, and it's of to steer the ship to new lands... :-)
