Was messing around and wanted to see how many different open tunings I could get out of the gauge of strings i use. Went online and checked out different brands and gauges. Came up with this…Continue

Again trying wiring based on a humbucker pickup. This time with results. Instead of stacking the two piezo they are side by side. One facing up the other down. Wired as shown below and directly to an…Continue

Today I learned that their neck pockets are the same dimensions. I have both gibson and fender styled necks. Took measurements to get precise neck pockets. And got the same measurements for both. I…Continue

"If you go by the chart. A 10 can possibly be tuned as high as an G above. So anything from a D below to G above. A 13 should be able to be tuned as high as the E string so you would have a range of A to E  A 17. This is where the problem…"

"I've used this pickup in different guitars. It's the design of the pickup itself. It has a huge midrange with very low high and low end outputs. It's  a neck/mid pickup so it's in the right spot. You can brighten it up a bit…"

"Pickups are interesting in the way they can impact tone. The size of the coil, how tall, how wide and how thick helps shape the magnetic field. P90 sounds different than a Strat or Jazzmaster pickup. The amount of wire will determine the strength of…"

"Question for you Taff (on the grounds that you sound as though you're in the UK)- what do you pay for single strings? Cos I can't find ANY for less than £1- wound are sometimes £1.50- and if sets of six are £5 or less…"

"Thanks Paul. No, didn't know this. I'm brand new at taring these things apart. I was actually thinking of using one of these really cheap Pbass pickups I have. That it may not be the size of the coil that matters. Just the idea of having a…"

"I should put a disclaimer on this. The highest of each tuning is based on what the next string down starts at. There can be a difference between wound and unwound strings in strength. So the highest tunings using an unwrapped G string is an estimate…"

glad you were able to make the club meet today, everyone enjoyed your new guitar. Spoke with Russ this evening and he said he really enjoyed playing guitars with you and Clark. Hope your schedule works out next month.

Hey Rat, if you have a cordlees drill would you mind bringing it to the fest to use in building the kit guitars. Need #1 and#2 phillips bits if you have those as well. Be great if you can help with this. Oh yeah don't forget to charge the batteries the nite before.

Thanks Gary
