Heh! I am in Amsterdam, right this moment, myself. Was just reading "Smoking Kills" in Dutch, on my pack of Davidoffs.

This is why I have been away from my 3-String and Bass projects for about 3 weeks...

Gooday Allan, I'm not sure I follow. If you want to keep the seals intact, you will have to steam them off, remove the cigars, build a CBG and reseal. Not an easy task. If you just want to keep the seals as found, just coat over them with your finish (varnish, polyurithane, etc). This is called "decoupage." you'll have to use LOTS of coats, though.
Veel geluk, and always remember that roken is dodelijk!

If you want to keep

I have a problem I am not sure how to solve. It took me a long time to find these boxes as cigar boxes but my problem is I want to preserve the seal.. being an american and all am including a couple photos and I am looking for answers. Allan

Wes, in a follow up article http://windworld.com/tools-techniques-ideas/another-important-consi... he wrote:

In most cases and for most musical tastes you’ll find that having two or more piezos on the same soundboard can yield a warmer and more satisfying sound than a single piezo would. An exception is the case where you want a particularly bright and edgy tone with a sharp attack. That’s because the cancellation with multiple piezos happens most in the higher frequencies/shorter wavelenghts (as is the case in the natural acoustic sound as well). A single piezo, being free of these high frequency cancellation effects, tends to sound brighter. Also, multiple piezos do a better job of capturing the complexity, variablility and non-static nature of the natural sound. This makes for a softer attack, and contributes to what the our musical ears hear as a warmer and more alive sort of sound. A single piezo, by contrast, will tend to have a slightly more “clinical” feel to its sound.

He didn't address wiring "in series" vs. "in parallel"....

thanks for the article link.

the best,

Wichita Sam

Good article on wiring multiple piezo's here. Plus Skeesix has mentioned putting them on/in cork.

Sure Toad. Here's a quick note on percision: First off, Google Sketchup (GSU) is built for rendering buildings not small lumber so you have to get in close. I have made a default template with the correct information (see the online docs). Then go under Window>Model Info and do this:

That's about it. You can set the precision to 0.000 if you like but that is overkill. -WY

Boy that was an interesting vid. It was sure different than what I had In my mind. Thank you for directing me there.

Nah, I'm NOT going to say anything about dowel joining a scarf joint. Uncle Dave Heaukulani has a GREAT video showing how it's done with ukulele on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64dT9SC9hbA&feature=related

Dang, but he's good. The way the vidoes on YouTube is HORRIBLE. I've told Dave that if he were to make a set of videos for commercial release, I'd be the first to send him a check. But look it over -- it's free if you don't mind having to search all over for the next segment.

Yep. 13 degrees it is Wes. I like the looks. Also, that looks like Google Sketchup that you are using for your drawings. I have fiddled around with it before but couldn't seem to figure out how to get the precision with it. Could I discuss it with you on your page or would it be appropriate here so all could benefit?

Thank you all for the information. I cut the scarf at 8 degrees but I think I will change to 10 to 13. I'll look at you're pic's Wes. I'm kink of a visual guy. It's gotta look pleasing to the eye.
