The 6 1/2 is an addition you used to stretch the string to get the wound and the original traditional tuning is DAA with out the fret you have a true diatonic scale. but it is a beautiful build

Great tip! I tried it myself only I drilled one hole and only bent one end of the wire, the fret sits in a little groove I cut aligned with the centre of the hole and is held in place with a small amount of epoxy (3 dots) I found that if the fret be…

My daughter met her husband in Amsterdam and also used to live there. My Great Grandparents immigrated from Holland. They had a dairy with a pub on top of the barn. Their last name was Stam. I love having friends like you and Shelly over there! I've never been there, but it always feels like it should be home to me. I love the sea, boats and raw shrimp. May be genetic or just down right strange?
