I have just built a Ukulele and have used the StewMac fret nippers to remove the tang at the ends giving a tangless fingerboard whenfilled with shellac. I do like the polished T effect of the frets, but this looks a bit different.

The best way is try different way on sample piece....Then you will know what work best for you

Every 1 have their own way...I cut my on the fretboard...Then careful file it..Keep it off the wood...Habanera Hal have a good idea....You could also put tape on it too...

Jamie-

Take a piece of flexible plastic like an old credit card or plastic milk carton.  Cut a slot in it and place it over the fret when you're filing it.  It will protect the fingerboard, and it's free!

When fretting a neck do you cut the wire on or off the fretboard? I am having issues filing the frets and not marring the fretboard. Planning on going back over it with sandpaper to even it out a bit, but figure there must be a better way.

I thought it was interesting that I got 2 New notices about Burnice being a new member followed by 2 spam messages - any of you folks have a side hobby as a hacker? I'm in favor of inducing some sort of high voltage event into Burnice's computer - bonus points if you can generate enough heat to melt off Burnice's fingertips .
