Pinky finger: my fave, a tapered Dunlop brass.    Ring Finger, 1B.  A ceramic by Dave Lynas -which I like better on some songs.   Badfinger a bottle neck from my friend, the Maddog.     Pointer finger, a big socket HEAVY!    Thumb- I really like a shot glass for a lap diddley.

I prefer a ceramic slide.  My favourite one comes from the Rocky Mountain Slide Company in Colorado.  The model I use, is the Salidan Midi Juju Whitehttp://www.rockymountainslides.com/salidan.html.  It's a thick walled slide.  I don't mind that, as it's quite light and it sits on my ring finger.  I find the tonal range, sustain and control to be fantastic.

Andy, I'm a fan too. I've gotten slides from Doc since he began.many years ago. I was a potter in Salida, CO and his father was as well. I believe I naught my first slide from Doc out of the trunk of his car in front of my studio. It was much like the blue one in my post but had a bit more "character ". His product has increased in quality and consistency over the years and still each piece is hand crafted, usually by Doc him self.

Wow, that's awesome.  To think Doc now produces signature ranges for some to the world's top players.  I love the tone my Salidan Midi produces.  It's neither harsh or tinny.  It didn't take much to get used to controlling it either.  Using mine feels so natural.  I've only communicated with Doc by email.  He comes over as really stand up bloke.

Just trying my best ot offer a unique alturnative to whats out ther, without breaking the bank for players!!! And your right I've been blessed to be able to work with some great players and judt love the fact that they can dig what I do as much as I dig what they do....and comig soon, I will be abe to offer "Laser Etched" Custom designe and signatures for not only the pro player but fo Everyone that wants that more personalised piec thru the Custom Shop. I'll be revamping the custom shop this year and just wait....it's going to be really cool!!!

Yep the more you try the more you get...mst times, LOL!!!  Being a 1 man shop, it's all on YOU...all good, love what I do!!

That is really cool what you do, Doc and I sure like your slides.   One of my regrets is that I had a friend who was a really good potter.  He later had a stroke and can't do that anymore.  (Still my friend, though!)    I wish I would have had him get me started on that pastime- maybe I could have made some slides.

been doing it for 18 years and still loving it!!!

Thanks Andy....it's all about the right tool for the right job...keep on sliding!!!

Doc, are you a CBG guy?  If not, I hope you give it a try.  A lot of fun.  Building instructions at page top under resources.   Dave Lynas is an artist, builder and slide maker.   You can put his name in the search spot at page top, get to his page and view his photos.

Another good artist worth a look is Jim in Tucson.  Not a slide maker, but some very cool stuff.

I was using a full size steel slide I have since changed to a 3/4 inch piec of copper tubing. I like both the copper one is much better for playing on cbg' especially when playing the blues, I would like to get a glass stubby slide at some point..
Anyone ever use a JetSlide?
