Ya'll, There has been some mention of Harbor Freight Tools as a good resource for commonly used tools -- This is good news!

I recently went and for $27, bought, Plane, two bar clamps on sale for $3 and seven piece forstner bit set. If you have one local, go or go online.

I know where I am going to get those "little things" I need.

Wes- We have one here in Johnson City, TN. Just bought a billion clamps of different size and type on clearance. also picked up a 3/4 size hammer with 4 replacement heads for different types of projects (like fretting). The hammer was $6.00!!! Picked up a ton of other miscellaneous stuff. In all, what would have cost me $100 at Lowes or a specialty woodworking store ended up costing me $47.00.
One of my other "hobbies" is off-roading my Suzuki Samurai. On one of my off-road forums I'm know as " the Harbor Freight poster child"!

I've bought HF tools, espically hand tools. Some of their power tools are not so great but some are good. Most my clamps are from HF. My dust collector is HF with a canister filter put on it. Some day I'd like to get one of their little metal lathes. I think there are only a couple of companies that make those little lathes.
Harbor Freight is my favorite spot as well, for a lot of stuff.

Also, a good tip, is to price your tool of choice online before going to the store. If the online sale price is cheaper than the in-store price, they will give you the lower price if you have a printout from the web site. I paid $5.99 for the same forstner bit set that way.
Half of my garage is full of Harbor Freight tools.
i have a few harbor frieght tools if its something that i dont think i will use much i got cheap but for anything i will be using i believe in buying nice tools they hurt less.
Harbor Freight = China Depot. I avoid China crap every chance I can now.
in the world thats getting much harder if not impossible to do. isnt it sad.

Love HF, I buy a lot of stuff there, sum turns out to be junk some really good. Bought a few table sanders, dust collecter and have been very happy. Definately a good place to get tools.
Terry, If you want to make that dust collector even better, Invest in one of these. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Saw some comments regarding power tools ( I assume power hand tools ) Any comments regarding jig saws there? I'm in the market soon for that. Jig Saws
have you checked any local pawn shops. Jig saws are cheap in them around here you can pick one up for 5 or 10 bucks.
