A bit of Arkansas Traveler on instruments made from cigar boxes, swimming pool filter, salad bowls and other junk. Lane playing bass on a cello, he's the only one up there with a normal instrument!

Yeah bemuzic, we couldn't bring ourselves to kick him off the stage, he's 5 year old Lane who's dad Luke is beside him playing a banjo made from a 56 Buick torque converter ( a Jens Cottrell idea )

aah too short!! Great stuff. I love that the person on a normal instrument was the odd one out : -)

Jim,

Long as I get a writer's cred, and can do my own version on my CD later this year! ;-). Hey, maybe we can collab?! Nope, no real melody in mind; I wrote it sitting on the, um, throne, without access to my git. I do hear 3 part bluegrass harmonies on the parenthetical phrases. I was kinda hoping somebody would run with it...

I was only half kidding about the jug; but playing in a string band can be thirsty work. And it would sound kewl. Give the kid on the bass something else to do >:-E

Look's like Paul's Fling now has at least the rudiments of a theme song, too.

Thanks Oily! That's goin on my next CD. Did you have a particular melody in mind? A jug would have been cool in there too. I'm on it. Once again sorry for the short vid. I'm checking to see if I can round up the whole thing. Thanks to all others for the comments. This has been a dream of mine for 2 years since I started making this stuff! About Pigtown Fling - My friend Paul started this 31 years ago at his greenhouse business and it's grown to a nice little festival.

Needs a jug! Great tune, too bad about the short vid.

I dig the sign; there's a song in it: Pigtown Fling ! I hear it like a square dance call-and-response:

Pigtown Fling

Well, I know a gal wears the strangest rig
(background harmonies: Goin' down to Pigtown...)
Wears curlers in her hair like the tail on a pig
(Goin' down to Pigtown...)
Shuffles on her slippers when she cruises the aisles
(Goin' down to Pigtown...)
She's a WalMart cougar who can crack a smile
(Goin down to Pigtown...)

Gotta lot to love; she can dance and sing -
Wants a cubic zirconia diamond ring.
She's a trailer park Queen just looking fer a King
Makes all the country boys do the Pigtown Fling!

Well, the last I heard, the boys called her Sue
(Soooo-eeeee! Down to Pigtown...)
'Cuz she'll git the Law chasin' after you
(Ain't much crime in Pigtown...)
You cain't touch ever'thang you see
(They're touchy down in Pigtown...)
'Cuz her brother Bubba is the Deputy
(Pigtown ain't a big town...)

She a natchral force, like a bubblin' spring,
With a tongue like a beehive: honey plus sting
All the boys light out when she's on the wing
'Cuz she makes 'em all crazy with that Pigtown Fling!

Instrumental break

They say last week she'd found a beau
(Like fam'ly, down in Pigtown...)
A skinny little feller named Lonesome Joe
(Lived outside of Pigtown...)
Just him and ol' Buster, his blue tick hound
(Woods is quiet near Pigtown...)
When they kiss, that dawg makes the strangest sound
(Howlin' down to Pigtown...)

Well, the kinfolk brung all that they could bring
'Cuz it ain't ever' day there's a white wedding
An' they paid the fiddler just to break a string
So they wouldn't hafta dance to the Pigtown Fling!

>:-E
