I am going to leave the piezo in and have the humbucker as well with a toggle switch.

I'm following this discussion closely. I want to make a license plate reso with no cone. I haven't decided on a piezo pick up or a stonehenge pickup. It seems to me that a piezo pick up would make more sense to catch the sound of the license plate.

ah! Ok .... I know what you mean by the looks but not sound department. Mine looks way cool, even more so with an old PA LP.
But only a few , usually old or pure blues guys, appreciate the sound.

I have to agree with Matt the plate is the reso. What you have is a reso with in a reso. Before making to many mods Just take out the reso cone and and sound well from the inside and just use the license plate to se how it sounds.

No it has a spun aluminium cone and a sound well. It's a very nicely made instrument.

Hmmm, an LP reso with a cone? I thought the idea was to use the plate as the reso.
