SEASICK STEVE question:
He plays a regular 6-string guitar, but it only has 3 strings on it.
I would imagine that we should then get our 3-string CBGs to sound like his guitar.
Any idea what guage strings he uses, and what are they tuned to?
And since I am asking for the world with those questions....why not ask:
Are there any videos out there that show how to play his techniques on a 3-stringer?
kieta
I was watching this guy playing on this site somewhere and he had his 3 string cigar box guitar sounding like a spanish guitar...I can't find it again...anyone know the video I'm talking about or do you know the tuning he might have been using??..
A series of videos on music theory for cbg. Only for those who want to stretch the old brain cells a little. Probably safest not to watch them all in one go. More to come.
Ok, the blog link is fixed for anyone interested, see below.
I'm interested to read your blog Barsymes, but cant find it.
For those who want an objective review (no affiliation) of www.learncigarboxguitar.com I finally wrote at blog/review about my experience. Check out here:

Another great vid - really helping me keep the beat.
Hi Pete. Thats what i thought.....lots of videos up on the slide hand.
I have another follow on video here - Claw Grip Part2. This vid might help with keeping a beat going...hope its useful anyway.
Just keep tapping that foot when you play. In the middle of putting it all together for one last video (part 3). Maybe then we can go in a new direction... see what happens!! Got loads of ideas to share.
Thanks for your post pete its really good to get some feedback. I like the sound of the pinch. As Clock the Wolf said The Claw Grip "Sounds like a special feature on an action figure!" :-o.......Lol i agree!! See you around no doubt :)
Joe, I like the Claw Grip video. Most CBG lessons focus on the left hand and not the right one. The technique you use is also called the pinch. I just started learning it and agree about keeping the fingers on a diagonal.
Also I struggle with keeping a beat going so I appreciate what you're trying to do.
