A couple of finished basses. The Red one is a re-build of the Bama Bass adding a second pick up & better electrics. The green one is a standard single P.U. model that I sell. I wish the hell I could figure out how to post this crap. Seems like every time I try it, It's different,. hope these pics come up somewhere.
I've never used Ashbory strings but I've read in several forums that they are not as durable and need much longer to stay in tune. Ashbory users also suggested buying more of the G string as they seem to break easily. Ashbory strings have a larger diameter than the polyurethane strings, as far as I know.
Good question, I've also been considering weed eater line
thanks everyone. I've built a Ubass last year (see pics on my page) and bought ashbory tuners (from largesound.com - there you can also get nuts and other parts). I used pahoehoe strings (should be similar to the aquila strings). I'm currently building three bass ukuleles for which I use the ashbory tuners (the hipshot tuners might be of better quality but cost a lot more).
Not sure about Ubass nut width 1 3/8 to 1.5 I think
