The Ratocaster. All recycled materials except pick up and strings. The solid wood body is a type of mahogany salvaged about 20 years ago from a project to replace the treads on a bridge over a local railway station. Stored outside in the good old English climate ever since to rot and weather. Other materials are a brass drawer pull handle, an old bicycle spanner with nut and bolt welded on, a piece of rusted enamel advertising sign, old wing nut knobs, an old Players pipe tobacco tin lid and a guitar neck from an old guitar. All items apart from the neck are in excess of 50 years old. The strap is constructed from an offcut of webbing from a ratchet strap originally intended for use to secure cargo to trucks. The strap fittings are from a car seat belt removed from a car in 1983 and kept because one day it could come in handy!

The more I look at that head stock color, the better it works.   Especially for the 'theme'.

Thanks for your kind remarks Uncle John. I agree with your comment regarding the colour for the neck and head but in true salvage style it was all that I had available in the workshop. It looked good on my wife's old car though!

I don't know about the headstock color.  But I like every other little bit of it.  Good parts finds and choices.
