has anyone here bought/used one of these pups that Gitty has? I would like that style, but I do not want to spend my money on a poor quality pickup. If there is even a vid out there of it being used, that would be cool.https://www.cbgitty.com/cubecart/cream-.html/

thanks people.

This is most likely a Chinese single coil pickup, and as such, you are probably going to get that level of quality. I'm not sure what sound you are looking for, so it is hard to recommend a particular pickup.

Some of our members prefer a more raw sound that they feel complements what they feel a CBG is all about.

Ya gets what ya pays for I reckon....

ask gitty himself

he wont piss in your pocket

if you want quality you wanna know the name on it i would .  Why not try a crocker or skeesix or harrison or juju ?

I purchased a skeesix to test and she builds one heck of a pickup for $45. She even has it copper shielded. I don't build pups in her price range, she deserves a look.

Not to take away from Gitty, but a 9 buck Chinese single coil may not sound as good as a $34 GuitarFetish Chinese P90 'bucker, which may not sound as good as a hand wound $45 Skeesix pup, or the slightly more expensive Harrison, Crocker, etc. And none of these are gonna necessarily sound worse, or better, than a Lollar, Fralin, Duncan, Kinman, Fender, or Gibson, etc. But I'd bet it won't sound as good as any of those, but it just might sound better than a simple piezo.

Depends on what sound you want. If you have the coin, $12 - $15 S&H ain't much to try one out.

I am not looking for any particular sound per say. I thought it might go well with the Golden Age single coil i have installed in my Washburn.

The thing is, i have sent 2 unrelated emails to Gitty on merchandise questions, and have received no reply. Now i get being busy, and i do not like to badger people, so i just thought i would ask where consumers might have an opinion.

P. Kid, i have looked at those makers as well, i am just getting info before making a purchase. I also like the flat-pups that have surfaced here in the past year.

Colin,

Have received stellar service from Gitty to date, so he probably IS busy, but will ultimately get back to you. I also have one of Elmar Klinghoffer's klangbox Flatpups in a lap slide I bought from Harrison Withers late last year, and it rocks! The extremely low profile makes the Flatpup sweet for CBG builds. I think around $65 plus S&H will get you one of those. Here's a vid of Harrison playing it:

I know Ben (Gitty) just moved into a new facility and he has been up to his armpits in work, so it is possible your message just slipped through the cracks.

To be honest, if it were me, I would go ahead and buy that one, and if it doesn't work out for you, use it in a CBG at a later date, and just get a different one for your Washburn. Even if you hated it, you are only out ten bucks.

What Dan the Man said.

I too have received great service from Gitty, no griping intended. And i just got back on my feet from unemployment for a year and am looking at low budget purchases.

And to think of it i have a white box that the cream color might match.

13 years ago, I was where you were recently, man. Understood. I think your white box will look kewl with the cream soap bar. And I bet it will sound awesome.

This topic interests me a lot because my next build will be a 6 string and my first pick up installation. I am not really a huge affacionnado on the specs of parts and such, so this will be good for me and I am on a budget, but am interested in the comments from those who have used them. Like someone stated, just depends on what you are looking for in the sound. A sound clip would be good.
