2011 Cigar Box Nation Christmas Album

I know it seems early, but Christmas will be here before you know it.

Shane had organized the Christmas albums in the past, but in his absence, CB Gitty asked me if I would like to coordinate it for this year.

For any of the new folks here on the Nation, we have compiled a yearly album of songs played, composed, sung, or whatever, by our members. The primary requirement is that the recording be of fairly good quality. For example, If you are singing, we want to be able to hear your voice. You get my drift...

The 2009 Christmas album contained 23 songs, and the 2010 Christmas contained 40 songs. More songs is not necessarily better, but we really don't have a limit on the number of songs we can include.

You can submit a cover of a traditional song, or you can do something you wrote/composed yourself.

Please respond in this thread if you would like to participate, and include the song that you would like to have included in the album. Once we have the final album compiled, it will be posted as a free download, and anyone will be able to download it. So, you will be able to pass the links along to your friends and family.

I will post more information later.

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

For the 2011 Christmas album, I'd like to change my moniker to my British blues alter-ego:

Blind Pomegranate Harrison-Smythe

It's in honor of Sir Terry Pratchett. And for the kiddies on Hogswatch Night.

OK, Mr. Harrison-Smythe, done.

is it too late to get in on this? I would do up on the housetop if it is not too late. If there is time i could cut it pretty fast, just let me know. Thanks

Nope, plenty of time for ya.

OK So I have the track done, now where do I send it? Hope you like it, all of you.

Matt,

Attach it to a post here, using the "Upload files" link, or e-mail it to Dan sleep at www.humidorguitars.com

I had him email it to me. I think that if someone wants to keep it a surprise until "the release", then I will have them send it to me directly.

If everybody posts their songs in the public area, then everyone will have heard the album, one song at a time. I kind of like the surprise aspect, kind of like opening your presents under the tree on Christmas morning!

Dan,

Yeah, the surprise is better; it's just that I noticed a fair number of folks were posting direct to the thread, so figured he might wanna do it either way. Glad he got it to you.

Some impatient ones, like me, have already submissed - let's just NOT listen to these songs anymore until christmas and discover their spirit again!

Yeah, great idea. I've already started working on a video. Looking forward to many of them.

I think it would be nice if a lot of the contributors would make videos and post them in the final 12 days of Christmas.

For me, it's too early before that.  If I start too early, I am Christmased out by Christmas.

Hahah, fooled you all! the mp3 I posted isn't the one I've submitted for the album.....

Well, actually Dan thought it didn't sound Christmassy enough, so I've 'festived' it up.
