You don't say if it has to be a real cigar box. I got a couple of boxes that are quite big but neither was intended to hold cigars. I have a box for water colour paints from a company called Reeves. That one is 14.5 x 9 x 2(ish) and another which may have held transparencies (photographic slides) which is 12 x 8.5 x 2.5. Both of these boxes are significantly better made than most cigar boxes I have seen but don't have quite the same visual "something" that a nice looking cigar box has. Both boxes were found on eBay, but charity shops may also be a good place to look.

David Lloyd has also used slide boxes for several of his instruments. Worth checking his photos to have a look.

Go to tinyguitars he has some boxes 8 1/2 X 11 3/4 X 2.

I found a 13 by 7 by 3 unfinished wood box on ebay.  Made a real nice guitar.   

With 2 hot humbuckers the tone is about as good as my Les Paul.  The box has a great,

feel and weight.   A picture is on my page.  John
