Dave Lynas said… John, here's a shot of #19, my best attempt at a Regal lap steel idea made of solid Mahogany 2 inch plank. I cut two blanks out of the Mahogany plus have a guitar body blank and two diddley bow neck blanks from the one 5 foot x 8 inch plank. The fret board is Walnut and the control plate is Padauk. A Gretsch pup. She plays great, but still need to learn how to make a tone pot that works right. Lots to learn... Dave

Dave Lynas said… John, I love those solid bodies. I'm going to do a series of lap steels using my recent collection as models. They are all just simple planks with routed pockets for controls and pickups. I'll be making pancakes like yours for some of them building up 2 inch planks out of 1 inch lumber. I've got a great source for nice wood. Woodruff Lumber here in Duluth. You walk in and their walls are covered by planks leaning against them with every wood known to man. $$, but I can get 3 guitars out of one 35$ plank...
Dave Lynas said… Hey John, thanks for the friendship. Your work is exceptional and very beautiful. Your solid body guitars are very inspiring and original. And you show how you built them. You are a great craftsman. I emulate your work and will try some of your ideas if you don't mind. Thanks, Dave

Thanks for letting me know. The most interesting part is confirmation that in most cases it doesn't make too much difference if you wire it up with the live and neutral the wrong way round.
Thanks again for the information.
