I recently purchased a couple of piezo buzzers from Radio shack. I've taken the buzzer out of it's black case. The only kind I could find has the "circuit board" attached to the piezo with 3 very thin wires. How do I seperate the piezo from the board, and where do I connect the hot and ground wires to the piezo?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I can only speak for myself and the way I do it.
I dont know how other guys do it but would also like to know.
The way I do it after a few failed attempts is to pour some glue in on top of the piezo where the small wires are. I let that sit until the glue is dry, and then carefully cut the wires.
The glue helps stabilize so the chance of a small wire breaking loose is lessened.I then solder one wire to the small wire thats attached to the center of the piezo, and then one wire thats on the outside.
Thats how I do it, if somebody has a better way it would probably help a lot of folks.
Roger's advice is good.

But better, order piezos from Digikey. No black plastic to break off and the wires are already right. About $1 each if you buy 10 or so at a time.
Thanks for the fast response guys. It's a big help.
I just de-solder the stock thin wires, and leave the little globs of solder in place. Then I use regular audio cable, with the ground (the "wrapped" wire) to blob on the outside, and the hot wire to the blob on the inside.
I hadnt heard of Digikey.I'm glad Doc chimed in with that info,no telling how many folks he helped with that piece of information.
I now know Radio Shack just lost a lot of business and its all DOC"S fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gonna place my order post haste.
Mark,
I tried soldering the same way you do but due to a small stroke a year or so ago I cant seem to hold the gun steady enough.
this Digikey info will save me a lot of work and frustration.
Try (www.mouser.com) try searching for (7BB-20-6LO) 0.75cents each.
Here's how it specs out . Made by Murata
7 ceramic
B Brass
B Piezo element
20mm diameter
6 khz
Lwires attached. I think Mouser has a $6 min order. Plus shipping.I didn't see a voltage rating. chuck
Doc and Charles -Thanks for the leads on the piezo elements. I thought these things were hard to find. Just like lots of things, you gotta know where to look.
