I don't think you would be going too far wrong with a Jet machine of any kind. I'd go for it.

Dang Tiny, thats a full weeks run for me.Your rolling along. What is your experience selling fretted and fretless? It takes too long here to get buyers for fretted.SO I build unfretted and have no problem at all selling that way. In fact all this win…

Roger, I have never used this modle Jet sander, but I have found Jet machines to be very good. Also check out the Grizzly brand machines I think they are very good as well if not a hair better. Cheers Bob

This is Sunday and I made a sale I never dreamed I would make. A couple came in ,both were deaf so we had to make do with simple 1 finger type sign and writing notes to each other to find out what they had in mind. A very nice couple that simply can…

Well its July 25th and,,,,,,,,

With this being our "busiest" time of the season, (not this year). No crowds like a normal year.
But I've managed to pull out a much better year then I expected building and selling my CBG's and DB's.
I took 5 DB's and 2 3 stringers in yesterday ( Fri at 2 pm and by 4 pm had sold 3.Sold another little experimental DB made out of a Tea tin that came jazzed up with purple shaded paint and was titled "Groovy Blue by the tea company. It just SCREAMED DB.
So I put it together with a neck I had planned… Continue

Well ,here we go,,,,,,,,

Its the weekend before memorial Day and I built as many 1 stringers as I could for this weekend.
I brought a total of 7 Didely Bows and 2 3 stringers.

I sold all the 1 stringers I had of the wood type Cigar box and 1 of the 3 stringers.
For the last couple of weekends I have noticed a trend in my area.
Paint it RED and its as good as sold,,,,,,.2 of the 1 stringers I painted RED ,1 with a matching red neck and 1 with a wood grain neck.
The ALL RED DB was the 1st to go out the door.the other was… Continue

Well I've changed the name of my lil Comapny,,,,,,,

My Co. name has been Raging Rog Banjo Co. for over a year now,,,,,,,
But when the economy shut down the banjo biznssss shut down too. But its a good thing because I really didnt enjoy building banjos as much as I thought I would. When I built my 1st CBG now THAT I enjoyed!!!!!!!!!
So, as of this week my new lil biznsssssss is now called ,,,,,,,," YES YOU CAN!"
My sign sits beside my table set up I use at the shop to display and play on.
People come up and say " yes I can what"?
Then I say "yes yo… Continue

Who'd da thunk it?

I find myself in the strange position of not being able to get enough of the cheap cardboard Cb's.It seems the public in this area will buy the simple little 1 string Didleys faster then I can dig up the boxes.
So here I am asking if any of you have too many of the cheaper boxes to sell me.
If so let me know and I'll buy what I can and pay shipping too if its needed.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a country we live in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finding the right CB's

I can find about any color or type of box except my favorite color in boxes.
RED, I cant find enough red boxes.
I'd like to trade one of the yellow Camancha boxes for a red Punch or similar if anybodies interested.

Hi Roger,
Just wanted to say "thanks." You've been more than generous with your comments about what you do and how you do things. It's been very helpful to me. I belong to an "art guild" in Mesa, Az. I used to make pens on my lathe, but now I make CBG's. I will be selling them at our street 2nd Friday art exhibition and street selling thing. Your info has been invaluable to me. I only sell my CBG's to finance my passion, I make dulci-guitars for kids with autisim. These kids get 'music therapy' which is good, mostly clapping and rhythm, but with a dulci gutiar, they can't play a wrong note, instant success for kids who have a hard time communicating. Selling CBG's pays for the dulci's I give to the kidfs. Your info is gold. You've taught me A LOT about retail and how to make this work. Thanks, pardner.

Thanks Roger on your comment..started making CBG's 3 years ago. I strip the paper and sand that baby down. I free hand paint or I burn a design in. My favorite I ever made was a portrait of Buddy Guy on the face of the box. It was burnt in, and Auctioned off on the Blues Cruise Ship in 2008. Pulled in $185.00 for the musicians fund. Lost the photo on my computer>BOO HOO. I donate every year. Next step, making a BASS Guitar..wish me luck..never made one..BluesBabe (tm).

Thank you, Roger. Actually, the frets are pieces of clothes hangers. It would have looked better if I had used real fret wire, but I was trying to keep the cost down.

Roger we got to do something about who we are LOL ;-) Your Roger Martin I'm Roger Morin. I don't know how many times when I post something people think it's you doing the posting. You get a lot of compliments though. I have to tell them I'm not the Roger they are thinking of and I really have no talent for building or playing. I don't mind though I think it's funny how people don't take time to read the last name Martin and Morin.
God Bless
Roger Morin
