I have seen some pics on here of this box. I have not heard if they are good. It is a thick heavyduty box with nice finish. While it will have a pickup on it i am wondering if it is good acoustically? Most of the time I dont plug in and dont know if this box is a good choice.

Others may have more input, I have only built one. It did not play particularly well acoustically, but was great w/a pup. YMMV.

You can always thin out the middle area with some sanding, leave the outside perimeter alone so it closes flush with rest of box? Good luck on this, hopefully we’ll see the finished product soon :)

Like most things, it depends on what you are trying to do.

If you have a mag pickup, box acoustics are not so important.

If you use a Piezo, it is a bit more important, but depends a lot on where you put the pickup and what kind of amp and signal processing you use.

If you are going full acoustic, it might be hard to get the tone and volume from the box since it doesn't have a lot of internal volume. Design, placement of the bridge, sound holes and a lot of other factors will be much more important on an all acoustic design.

So, "Is it any good?"

With a good design, it will be okay, but don't expect a lot of volume.

Is there a better box? One with more internal volume will help, but remember the wood in these boxes is not tone-wood. Far from it.

So, it depends.....

I got two of these boxes, never had seen them before. They are sharp looking and I could not believe how thick the wood was. I also got a cohiba box. I think I will use the cohiba box for this build and I will save the camancho boxes for pure electric builds. Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.
