This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Agreed . On a few  posts from the past on cbn , many agree that soundholes on a cbg are highly overrated  For the small effect it has,  it is sometimes not worth the risk , ie :splintering  a nice box , messing up artwork , or going too big  or too many , and actually hurting the sound .(very easy to do on a small cbg)  not to mention possible feedback issues with the  pickup. etc etc. i'd like to say  "less is more " , but ill change that to less is "safer". and some are   fine with having none at all. especially if it has a pickup.

Right. I missed this post.

This box has rounded sides ,cut a housing to accommodate the heel.

Great job on that Michael. Made a great looking seam.

Hi, That's a good idea. I would go for one larger sound hole though if it was me. I put a resonator soundhole grill in mine and it cut the volume by about a third, so took it out and just had the plain hole, much more volume. You can always start small and go larger for more volume, depends on the size of your box.

i'd like to add to the anonymous one's comments. the rules for CBG's are that there are no rules. one learns from ones own building. unless you have the guitar in your hands, you cannot comment on how large the holes need to be, or anything about the build. you cannot know how it sounds. me, i try anything, and i'm sure i'm not the first to disassemble something i'm not happy with, save the parts....(i have "parts" all over the house, my wife is not happy, can't help myself)........oh,......pick is the only one who commented about the the catalog i posted.

https://timesavers.com

it's a clock catalog, and there are pieces on the cheap you can't find anywhere else. tangental i know, just on my mind. i feel the need to add when i can, just an urge. i love paul's blog, chime in when i can, lot's going on and lot's to be learned from others....how about that fret saw jig?....kudos!, lot to digest there.......to revisit....think about before falling asleep............and then there's the box.......am i the only one who spends hours lying on the couch thinking about ways to make something that won't work work?....

....it's all imagination, ingenuity, time, fun. i would never try to advise against anything, encouragement is what this is about. i build a lot of amps and that building has added to my guitar building. if you do needlepoint, or throw clay, like dave, it morphs into your guitars, or amps, or a knee brace i just needed to make to walk after blowing out my knee.

'if it were me". hmmm. i think even leo would learn, not teach. perhaps for me i'd get a bigger hammer.

how 'bout this build. a percussion CBG, five piezos. for a drummer. or a non drummer jammer. i think i broke all the rules........as my dad used to say.....Ah So........

anybody ever see a CBPG before? tap the aluminum piece and you get singing sustain.

I'm lost, what does CBPG stand for? Percussion?

Cigar box percussion guitar.

Make a Cigar Box version of the electronic drums. Might have to use a suitcase or briefcase for the bass drum though. Tambourines, cowbells and maybe some large reso cones for cymbals.

I like it, it intrigues me and I want to hear it in action.

When I got started here at CBN and building some CBG's, I noticed myself looking at things around the house or in stores and thinking: I could build a guitar out of that! It's a true sickness and I hope I never recover. Haha

Remember those large wooden spoons and forks people used to hang on the wall back in the 70's? I have a set and I plan on making a double neck guitar out of them. See what I mean? Sick sick sick.

I have built a git from a large spoon. I call it a meditation guitar. Not home right now, I’ll post a photo when I get home. Funny you mentioned looking at things around the house. My family kidded me to hide stuff. I like going to a flea market and find all the pieces for a git and build it in my head, find what I need. If it’s a sickness I have it. Nuther photo to post. I took a stile out of a chair and built a diddly. Crazy crazy.
