Ukulele bridge help

Hi all, building a traveler style uke.  Nearing the end, but the standard glue one uke bridge (rosewood and bone) I intended to use ends up about .25 inch / 6mm to low.  Neck and fretboard are glued in place and not adjustable.  Would a block of wood under the bridge kill the sound?  Could a longer piece of bone work ok?  Concerned about string angle from the string mounting holes.  Or should I change gears and go to a floating bridge and string retainer?  Other thoughts?

Hi, I am just got to the bridge stage of building two ukes, but I have not made a decision yet on bridges. Will possibly go glue on.

But to answer your question, I would consider putting a shim of the required thickness glued to the bottom of the bridge you have , or make a thicker /higher bridge.

Making the saddle too high can lead to other problems.

personally, I would not shim the whole bridge... I like the banjo style floating bridge idea...

I cut a little piece of plastic to the height needed if just the bone was taller, definitely to tall.  Didn't like the look of the shim either. If I had a chunk of rosewood a new taller bridge seems like it would be ok, but I decided to make a floating bridge and little block for a string retainer.  Thanks for the input!
