Ah.   I am so glad you received this great gift too and I understand on the hand problem thing.  You are using good body and guitar posture which helps.

Yup, I know a bit about Snuffy Smith and his buddy, Barney Google.

Yup, your pops is right!  I watch the Peanuts holiday shows.  That Charlie Brown is one of my favorite actors.  So much good facial expression and just an 'it' factor.

Thank you, Richard, for the kind words. I popped this song out just in time...family squabbling going on....unaccepted apologies, unforgiving grudges...family members preferring broken relationships, instead of healed ones. This song seemed appropriate.

I'm going back to Summer's End now. A more upbeat, rambling piece with lots of drumming on the strings. I had previewed it here awhile back when I was just jamming it out (just ripped it down from YouTube though). Totally unorganized/unfinished. Got new parts now...and a nice arrangement. Got to get to work on it. It's a piece I really enjoy playing, but I have to be really nimble cause it's fast for me. So my next song will not be sad...it'll be thumping and fun.

I have to say, Uncle John...you are a hoot. I truly love your personality. It shines around here. You are one of a kind...and I mean that in a good way. Always enjoy reading your posts. You have spunk!

Yes, 4 months on CBG. I received it in May. I quit the drums 25 years ago (shoulder injury that would never allow me to flail around a kit like John Bonham again). So yeah, I had a 25 year] musical hiatus, until I picked up the CBG this past May. When I first got it, I never thought I'd be able to play...it was killing my hands and forearms, LOL. A had no clue what I was doing, and was desperate to find a teacher. It occurred to me I was going to have to teach myself though, as Jim Morris, whom I've met, lives just a bit too far away for me (although kinda close). I was gonna give up on this CBG thing at first, but I said a prayer one night and asked God, "Please give me the gift of music again. Let me play, and let me play well. Please help me on this. It means alot." Here I am exactly 4 months later. He answered my prayers, and for that I am very grateful.

Child prodigy? No. But I have a musical background. I was badass rock'n'roll drummer - started as a toddler and finished at 32. Here I am at 16, back in 1979...

Snuffy....LOL, just my forum name here. I wanted something "folksy". Always enjoyed reading Snuffy Smith in the Sunday comics when I was a boy...

My Dad calls me "Charlie" though...says I remind him of "Charlie Brown" from Peanuts. Go figure.

Bass weaving to and fro like a dream weaver. There's that drumming timing, perfect. 25 seconds into a song like this I've changed tempo 3 times! Perhaps prodigy Uncle! That's what all the crying is about, 4 months and he's that good! Ha! Snuffy, if you change that to 4 days, I think Uncle takes his Bluebird bus in March to track you down! All kidding aside, great vibe you got going there!

4 months.  Dang show off or child prodigy.

And what kind of momma names her baby boy, Snuffy?
