You are welcome Bob. I have been building only 5 years and still learn something new on each build.

Derek, thanks  a bunch for the photos and info.  It explains a lot.  I see where I went wrong on my second build when I beefed up  the neck so I'll eventually take it apart and redo it.  I love this hobby and wish I had started it twenty years ago.

Bob, I also beefed-up the neck inside the box, of course, with another pc of oak like everybody else does too.

Here is how I normally reinforce my 6 string necks. But did not do it on this build, so I want to keep it awhile and see how it holds up. I would like to do a 24" the same way as the red one in the video and see how it holds up too. Though 23-1/2" is similar to my old Montgomery Wards folk guitar and that feels like an old glove. ;)

Hi Bob, thank you a bunch, I appreciate the kind feedback about the songs.

This build is an experiment since it is the first 6 I built for myself. All the others I made have had 24" or 24-3/4" scale lengths and reinforced with steel channel from Home Depot, then covered with a fingerboard. Those have held up over the years since I have asked the guys how the gits are doing.

BUT for this one, the neck is one long piece of oak cut in 2, flipped so the grain is opposed and glued edge-to-edge like the pic below, of the tail-end. I made the scale length 23-1/2" and currently using extra-light acoustic strings to keep the string tension down to about 117 Lbs. I saw some old posts where the experienced builders stated it has worked for them so wanted to try myself - since the steel makes the builds neck-heavy IMO.

Another great one Derek. I was surfing on YouTube today and saw your cover of Last Nail. Great job on that song as well. Did you need to reinforce your neck? I want to build a six string with 24 inch scale on an oak neck.
