I guided my grown step-son through building his own Cigar Box Amp, his first experience with soldering and some basic woodworking.  We had a great time and he really likes the sound.

Jim,

My Heathkit was a battery tester. Nice and compact. Checks 1.5V baterries (D,C,AA, AAA) as well as 9V. Thirty some years later it's still part of my workbench.

Probably the best part of it was my Dad encouraging me to build it. He wanted to start me out with something small and simple. Learn to get my solder joints clean, and then take on bigger things.

It was that type of teaching that I passed along to my sons, and hopefully someday to my granddaughter "Little Fred"

Yup, good on both of you. As with Blues Frog my first real amp was a Heathkit project I put together with my Dad at 15 yrs old (me-not him) The smell of hot solder always takes me back to those days and a bunch of parts on the kitchen table. Yours looks great!

My dad got me into my first "Heathkit" project years ago. He encouraged me to try and the result is my love for doing this type of stuff now.

Nice looking amp. Its something for you both to be proud of.
