Hey guys, new member here with a question.

I recently finished building this guitar and I'd like to know whether you can call it a cigar box guitar, since its made of a Biscuit tin and an old Strat neck. Its got 6 strings, has a 25.5 scale length, a mini humbucker in the neck position and my initials for sound holes. What you guys think?

Call it what you like, but it's not a cigar box guitar, but it IS a fine bit of work and fits in well

call it a cool guitar and call it yours. you should be fine than.

Although it is not a "cigar box", it certainly is an original home made instrument.
TBG, Tin box guitar! It's all good to me!
Thanks for sharing

Is it a cigar box? No. Does it fit the parameters of what is a cigar box guitar? Yes. Does if fall in the same pantheon of what has been called a cigar box guitar? Yes. Cigar box guitar is an attitude. Not what it's made of. Now go play your cigar box guitar! : )

If you need more help on this subject there's an easy place to find it. Look threw the picture gallery on this site. Find out what has been identified as or included as a cigar box guitar. Then make your own call.

Looks great and I bet it sounds great too.

Grabbing a cookie out of the can would be funny.

I play the guitar on the can allot. Keeps my hands busy. Never in the shower or wile brushing my teeth though.

Canned Guitar? Canned music comes to mind. Shudder at the thought......

: )

Welcome to CBN JP, I see you have been smit by the bug. Nice tinnie btw, nice to see a fellow S-talker here.

I would propose the Genus "Luthierus CBG-us" would include a wide variety of species and breeds of "home made non-traditional luthierie" such as the cigar box 3 string guitar, the cigar box diddley bo, the license plate guitar, the suitcase bass, the 2x4 lap guitar, the lunchbox ukulele,  and the rare and elusive  toilet seat lyre, just to name a few......
