Look under the header in free instrument plans this are old style fretless banjo plans.

I am a Chicago transplant to Rogers AR., Where are you located?

I build a different type of Banjo, used by the World Famous Shrien's Banjo Band.

I don't have plans, but I can email you photos.

Although not strictly a "cigar box" banjo, the techniques would work as well for a box design:

I used a piece of PVC sewer-drain for the "pot", and 1/8" hardwood (Baltic Birch) plywood for the top. I copied the neck dimensions from a classic Gibson.
Sounds pretty banjo-y, if I say so myself.

Hint: If you're making a 5-string, spring for the geared 5th-string tuner. (I didn't, and friction tuners are a pain.)

What is the diameter of the PVC pot?

I have plastic food buckets (3 & 5 Gallon) that might work.

I make non playing Banjos that are played to recorded music. I don't have plans but could email photos.

The PVC tubing I used is about 8" in diameter...Standard drain material. I looked at using those heavy plastic buckets that you can pick up anywhere.. When cut they are not rigid enough IMO.
(Don't let that stop you from experimenting!)
