Yes IZ had some serious health problems as I understand doctors couldn't control his weight. But what a singer and entertainer.
I guess at one point he weighed like 770 pounds.
far better than the Bob Marley cover
Hey Guys I am not really understanding the point of this post. Me being a man who weighs 500 lbs. I can only hope it's out of respect for the man and his music. But let me say this. I have myself just recently discovered this amazing talent. Although this music is not what I would normally listen to it is so pure that it touches my heart in a way that I cannot explain. He died back in the 90's from his poor health. His music will live on and its legacy is ours to keep. Thanks IZ !
The post is and was totally out of respect for the man and his music.
So much beauty in "ALL" of God's creations!!!
Richard,

I didn't originate this post, but I would bet my house that it originated with nothing but respect. Ukuleles got me into CBGs and I was high on the Izz before the CBG bug got me. If you are wondering about the replies in respect to the man's weight, I can only give my reaction.... It is sad that anything takes such a great talent out of this world before their time. This was certainly the case with IZZ. But, where many people often avoid people with "conditions", because of his talent and pure soul, people flocked to him.

I wonder what you saw that was in anyway disrespectful......

the best,

Wichita Sam

Howdy Sam, Let me tell you that I don't bet. I normally take people at their word, yes or no, black or white, green or blue, right or wrong, up or down. There are no grey areas in my mind. I am normally open minded but in the end, thats how my mind works. If you tell me something, I take you at your word. And you can do the same with me. That's me. I tell you this because we dont know each other and it would take years for you to learn this about me. This information is just so you know what kind of animal your dealing with.

Now for this post. And let me say I respect all those who post here on these pages. And I have directed no dispersion toward anyone. Almost all the posts I have read here at the nation either ask a question or make a statement for others to answer or share a point of view. In this post that wasn't the case just a link to a video. Ok? I have viewed this video many, many times as a matter of fact I play it at least once a week just to keep me going. And I know there are so many aspects of it that could be a topic for discussion here at the nation. The video it self, the audio, the song arrangement, the vocals, the instruments and even the audience participation. But that wasn't the case. The way this post started was very vague and non descriptive nor was it a tribute. And the replies at that point to the post did not appear to be of a musical nature. Now, there was no disrespect stated because IZ was what he was. Me being a fat man thats my case also. But what most small people dont understand is that we are much harder on ourselves then any spoken or written word can discribe so that crap don't bother me. That being said I want to make this clear. "Reading this post and how it was started I dont see what iggy was posting about" What type of discussion was he trying to solicit? That was the point of my reply and also to show my respect for the man and his music.

Richard,

One either assumes people are good or they are not. In the literally thousands of posts I have read on the nation, I haven't seen a handful of negative ones. And, when a link to a vid is posted, it is uniformly honoring of the artist.

If you believed the same you wouldn't have asked the intent of the poster. Your post carried a "chip on the shoulder" "what the heck do you mean by the that?" "right before a bar fight" tone. I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but in a digital environment, I thought that you might like a clarification.

That's my black and white. (probably not useful in a world full of shades of grey)....

the best,

Wichita Sam

Well Sam here we go again. First I don't assume anything. Your second paragrapgh says " If I believe the same" Well right now I am not sure that we believe the same about anything, And In don't really understand any part of that paragraph. But if you read my first post it was stated in the form of a question. And that was my only intent. Maybe I didn't use the words that made that clear. I only spoke of my weight because who ever would read my reply might understand that some people see things with a different light and that I can relate to IZ and his problem. Seems to me that we are both seeing this thing very differently and we have our own thoughts about it. And our word seem to carry different meanings to each of us. Having said that I hope we can agree on this. We are both grown men with many different opinions and maybe we can agree to just disagree on this one.

THIS GUY IS A LEGEND AND HIS MUSIC AND TALENT WILL INSPIRE THE WORLD FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
