My thoughts and opinions as I drink my second PBR with spicy hot V8 juice. PBR and spicy hot V8 juice. Cheap and good. Like CBGs.
I see a decline in the numbers of videos and photos posted on CBN. Is interest decreasing?
I have a shit-load of opinions on this, but right now, I want to hear what you think. What is the state of the CBG world and where is it going?

As soon as I got the message about this post and read it I knew Uncle John had just started a big thread. Now my in box is all blow'd up! Thanks John!
A couple of additional points on top of my earlier comments:
Perspective- I was a regular in this group before the bulletin board moved to this software.A LONG time ago! I watched as membership went from probably less than 100, and remember the big news when we went past 300. The attention and growth on this site and elsewhere has been staggering. I don't even know where the total membership is now. Thousands.
Additional perspective- I don't do Facebook. Don't "get" it and quite frankly, don't give a hair off a rodents tail about it.
Even more perspective- I walked through an art gallery/collaborative just last weekend. Odd little hole in the wall in Mechanicsburg PA. Yeah, near York. I gazed upon four CBG's hanging on the wall with a little background story and some price tags. I mean no offense to the builder, and take into consideration the location and setting, but........ I had to hold my side so relieve the pain of excessive laughter. I think the rule in such a place must indeed be "Imagine the most ridiculous price someone might possibly pay. Now double it". Then the pain of realizing that someone will likely buy them. hang them up somewhere and never play them.
Another shot at perspective- Last weekend I was waiting for an order of blue crabs in this hole in the wall joint.... That happens to sell some of the best steamed Chessies you can find, and spotted those Bud/Clamato cans in the cooler. Never saw that before. Cant imagine. Its just wrong! Even though I enjoy a spicey Bloody Mary now and then. But now I find out my old friend John likes this combo and have to give it a try. Really.
P.S. Linda, I have never noticed a lack of support for women builders here, what did I miss?
I am honored to introduce Bud Clamatos and cheap beer and spicey tomato juice to the world. The cause goes on.
I come here everyday as a part of my routine. There is no better site to hang around anywhere on the interwebs. Almost 1000 views of this thread in the course of a day tells me that the interest is still high. It also says a lot about everyone's favorite Uncle.
Out of curiosity, I did a very rough crunching of the numbers for videos. (May to May)
2009-2010 - 1460 = 4/day
2010-2011 - 1900 = 5.2/day
2011-2012 - 2840 = 7.7/day
2012-2013 - 3770 = 10.3/day
2013-2014 - 3280 = 8.9/day
Looks like it peaked somewhere in late 2012. So let's break it down further beginning in June of 2012:
June-Aug 2012 - 819 = 9.1/day
Sept-Nov 2012 - 784 = 8.7/day
Dec-Feb 2013 - 935 = 10.3/day
Mar-May 2013 - 984 = 10.9/day
June-Aug 2013 - 845 = 9.4/day
Sept-Nov 2013 - 819 = 9.1/day
Dec-Feb 2014 - 778 = 8.6/day
Feb-May 2014 - 733 = 8.1/day
What does it all mean?
I have no idea.
All I know is that there is more than one person on this site who will appreciate the inordinate amount of time I spent compiling these numbers. It's not like I would get obsessed with something as trivial as how many videos are posted per day on my favorite website. That would just be silly, bordering on ludicrous. I mean, that would be like trying a passive tone control for a piezo. Or making a banjo out of a soda bottle. Or drinking beer and tomato juice. Lunacy.
Long live the Nation.
Aw shucks.
Interesting stats, Turtle. A bit surprising to me too. My perception must be off. It seemed like for a while there someone could post a vid and have it gone from the main page by the next day.
I was a little surprised myself Unc. It's amazing that a 2-3 vid/day change seems to make such a difference. I'm with you - it felt like a vid would get bumped in a matter of hours. I like a little slower pace personally.
But are those stats being skewed by the changes brought in recently to limit the number of photos and videos one can post per day?
If I recall, there was no way to cap the number of videos posted per day so it was only the pictures.
Man! I hate it when one of my videos gets bumped off the front page by multiple posts.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! Not that I'm complaining...
Wow turtlehead! Nothing like statistics to upset a PBR inspired idea. But I agree with Mark Twain - "there are three kinds of lies. Lies, damned lies, and statistics" Of course he also said "a gentleman is a person who knows how to play the banjo - but chooses not to" I'm willing to bet Mark Twain heard a few CB instruments in his day! Anyway it's very cool that a lot of folks who don't post stuff regularly have responded to this discussion!
Oh wait, that's not Mark Twain!
I have so much on the go....and disablities I have to work around.....I'm just really learning to play a guitar of any kind, so I don't feel I'm ready for an audience just yet (other than showing builds)... I really enjoy composing and writing lyrics....and that's an on going thing..... as well as needing to learn the digital studio for recording it all. Then there's the building part which I find the best part, seeing a pile of wood transforming into a playable instrument, and done from one's own hand is very rewarding...I also have other hobby interests I continue too keep active with, like my wood carving and painting murals here and there....Since I've joined CBN I don't think I see a decline as much as winter is over and summer gives people other options to enjoy, or work while the weather is good. From the Facebook end of things.....it's alive and healthy as far as I see.
All the Best!
