Well, the other day was mothers day, my first without my mom who passed away this month last year. So instead of moping around being bummed out, I decided to channel that energy into creativity, and I built my 2nd CBG. All Gitty parts. Blank maple neck, wenge wood fretted fretboard. Always loved the Rickenbacker headstocks, so that's what I rolled with. I guess that makes this a "Ricken-Box-er". :)
I did my own abalone fret markers in the fretboard. Genuine bone nut (the first I've ever cut). Neck and fretboard are tung oiled. 1800's jailers key bridge, chemically patinaed. 4 pole single coil pickup with volume and tone pots. I've found I don't care too much for the piezo pickups, as they amplify any little sound, such as touching the box, cord wiggle, voice, etc...
I played this with my band last night at rehearsal, and Lordie Lord, this thing plays so fine and screams!!!
The name tag on the headstock is going to be engraved with "Miss June", the name of my fathers first boat (named after my mom).
So the moral of the story is: Never underestimate the therapeutic value of getting out in the garage and making something!!!! It can fill the hole in your soul.
Thanks for looking.
And thanks to the folks at CBGitty for selling some awesome stuff to work with! :)

nice build dano and strength to you fella

Thank you Darryl! :)

Really nice.  I start every day with at least 15 minutes of playing one of my guitars.  That and 2 or 3 cups of strong, black coffee get me ready for the day.

Thank you Ed! I start with the coffee first! LOL!!!

Likely the coffee is first for me too.  It all gets in the mix with making my daughter's lunch for school, breakfast for everyone, bus stop, getting ready for work. . . Yeah, that 15 minutes of playing guitar helps cope with all that and more.

Before I read the caption, I saw the headstock and instantly thought it looked Ricky. Sweet build from top to bottom.

Although it's nothing to compare with losing a family member, building and playing my CBG's helped me through a dark period of time last year. I completely know what you're saying.

Stay strong there Dano.

Thank you Slowhand!

Thanks Ron!

Really cool! I hope my wenge fretboard turns out as nice as yours!
