I just ordered my first cigar box off of ebay, and I am absolutely stoked about buildng a resonator. I can't wait until it comes to see what I can do with it. I haven't ever done anything like this before. I have wanted to build a guitar for quite some time now, but I didn't have the funds to build an electric. I found some CBGs online one day, and I knew that I had to make one.

Anyway, all that said, I just joined, and wanted to say hello to all of you out there. Thanks for the info sharing that goes on here, it is really helping me out as I look towards my first build.

You're in the right place. If your goal is to eventually build a full on traditional guitar, this is a fantastic way to learn how to do it (rather than paying for school). The great thing is that when you screw up somewhere when building a cbg, you're only out a little cash, whereas on a traditional guitar with pricey tonewoods and materials, you're out hundreds.

Good luck on that resonator, man. Remember to take it very slow and ask lots of questions. Everyone here has their own idea about how a guitar should be built, but we all have one thing in common: we want to see you build a guitar that you're proud of.
Welcome Jon!

Any questions you have or info you need, this is the place.

Amen to that!
Welcome aboard.

Fair warning - now you have found cbgs, your life wont be the same! :o)
Cool. I suppose that is the kit from red dog? If so, that's John McNair. He's one good builder and guitarist. But then there are many more here (present company excluded). Best thing about them is the ability to pick it up and practically start off playing.

Josh (one great builder!), Nathan and Randy (Ben, btw has some awesome stuff too) are right -- you will find all you need here for (wait for it. Wait for it.) you new obsession.

I have checked out the Red Dog kits, and was inititally thinking that I would go that direction, but I really want to try to do one from scratch, so the kit is kind of a last resort.
Welcome Slinger, glad to meet you. I'm pretty new in here myself, although I built my first CGB back in '93. Cruzing around in here got me fired up and building some new stuff! Tons of info and lots of really helpful people. Need any help, just ask. Check out the other members' photos for lots of ideas.
Hi and welcome to the best group of folks online. I've only been here a few weeks myself but can assure you that you have found a new online home of like minded people. I also plan on building a CBG in the near future but went the extra mile of searching on ebay for a guitar I liked, then bought it. I'll be giving it "the once over" a few times before I decide on how I want to build mine. I bought mine from fuzzyblues, he is super to work with and he custom built my CBG for me to my specs and wishes.

Anywho, welcome again and feel free to ask questions or start discussions here...
