i wanted to build something a bit better than what ive seen out there ,its just an experiment really thats got out of hand ha ha a member of a local band heard what i wanted to make and asked if he could buy it when finished .i wanted to make somethin strong and functional ,the neck i thought would be better one piece .the strengthening in the tub is also a framework for the sound post and bass strip under the sound board .it will only ave a small foot ,the bass is three quarter scale but will fit in the band members car nicely and noyt weigh too much ,i ll keep posting photos on my page for you.how to i post video on there i ve never done it before and need some help.i hope people dont think im getting too carried away with my builds but im loving what i do its a great way of relaxing for me i have a very busy day job tattooing and need other creative ways of release ,thanks for your attention kev
Thank you! I have been playing guitar off and on for about 15 years, nothing serious. My Mom and my Uncle used to record themselves playing the boogie and old Rock and Roll songs on cassette back in the early 70's My Uncle played the Boogie and blues very good! He died when I was a little kid, so I just took them old tapes and played them over and over again and with the help of my mom learned a lot of his leads and his technique. When I built my first CBG The boogie was the first song I wanted to try and play. Sing Me Back Home is one of my all time favorite songs! I would love to hear someone play it on a 3 or 4 string CBG!
that one was pretty easy to sing. singing is what i need to work on the most. i tell everyone that i cant sing let alone play and sing at the same time, but im trying!
thanks uj much appreciated, maybe someday I can learn to play it ha ha ha

Hey John, the feeling is mutual. I've taken a break on building over the winter, trying to finish some recording projects. Looking forward to building again as the weather warms.
The box was made out on English oak(sides ,top/bottom) ply front and back.Front veneered in Australian Jam ,Back in cherry ,tree in drawing ink, then french polished.
Thanks for your intrest

Thanks for the suggestion of the hacksaw for fret slots. I've also heard people use a "junior hacksaw," which has a slightly thinner blade. I ordered an inexpensive dovetail saw, and I'll see how that works. I have a regular miter box, and also a fellow showed me how to use a squared-off piece of wood as a jig.
Thanks for the kind comments on the whiskey song. As you've probably guessed, that is a very autobiographical piece, and I wasn't really sure anyone would enjoy it. But, I had to get it out; y'know?
Thanks Uncle John. I love your old-time singing and playing.
My current home is in San Benito, birthplace of Freddie Fender.
Years ago I lived down the street from the Austin home of the Vaughan brothers.
I used to wander the fields of my friends ranch near Brenham, birthplace of Blind Willie Johnson.
I once saw Johnny Winter sitting alone on a blanket picking an acoustic in Zilker Park.(1970?)
When I was about 11 years old I met the members of a little band called Z Z Top in Houston. My best friend's brother was their road manager, Bill "Pete" Tickle. He can be seen as the chubby Sharp Dressed Man in the video for that song.
I never thought about all these events at once like this.
I guess I must have Texas Blues in my soul.
Lightnin Hopkins, Freddie King, Janis Joplin, Big Mama Thornton, Blind Lemon Jefferson, T-Bone Walker, Albert Collins...And some people say the Mississippi Delta is home of the Blues!
No John I don"t know Mark { I think there"s a lot more people who live in the frozen tundra than you realize } but I may have to add him to my friends cause he also left me a nice comment. And I may need to hit him up for some fire wood someday. Take care.
