Jeff McFadden,

Here is a pic of one of my CB Ukes I built a couple of years ago but just finished installing one of the LM386 Amp Boards from ebay ($2.00) and one of those tape recorder mics I picked up at a local electronic surplus store ($3.80). I had to adjust the board to keep from overdriving but that was easy and I am really happy with the results. Oh, I also added a switch to keep from draining the 9v battery when not in use.

Chuck Cobillas,
I'm not very happy with the piezo rod in my only (so far) completed CBG, but I'm thinking all it needs is a 386 pre-amp like you're describing. I've got parts on order off EBay to scratch build one and see what I think of it.

Blind Mellon,
I bought some of the same LM386 modules on eBay and I also am very happy with the results. I haven't been happy with the sound quality of the piezo's (probably my fault) so I decided to install them into the CBGs and use them as a pre-amp hooked to some "tape recorder mics" I got from an electronics surplus store for less than $4. I was going to remove the element and mount it in the box but found that they sound better if I leave them in the original plastic housing. I'll post some pics in the next day or 2.

anybody know anything about this ?

My first experience with an LM386 is very positive. I bought an assembled module on ebay for 3$ & it can drive my Buskin' Blaster amp (see topic above for pics) with 2 8" speakers quite nicely, add a pedal & it screams!! Not the same as building your own, but for this price it was worth the shot.  Ebay link.....

Reply to Scott aka Farmer Ted...
Thanks, i didn't even think about that. I have an adapter! I will do just that once I build my first cbg amp

To Loco...You don't need to install a 3.5mm for the iPod...all you need is a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter and the 3.5mm patch cord for the iPod. I use one for my cbg amps so I can use it to play music on a cbg amp while working in my shop.

I'm pretty happy with the MAH5 circuit board from Guitar Fuel http://www.guitarfuel.com/ now that I have discovered the problem I was having. Problem was that the battery terminals are not particularly robust, and once I had them connecting to the 9V battery securely....no more problem. These circuit boards really pack a punch, and support 240 V through a transformer, MP3 connectivity plus headphone socket as well as all their other goodies. Highly recommend them.

Hi everyone, not sure if this has been covered before...

I want to build a CBG amp for my CBG and my smart phone. I want to have a 1/4" jack and a standard 3.5mm stereo jack found on iPods and smartphones. I'm not much of an electrician so I went to cbgitty to see his pre-wired kits. He doesn't carry what I'm looking for.but before I ask him to build one for me custom (assuming he can do that) I want to know if possible and how too. I'm a complete DIY guy as most other CBG builders. I have build several CBG and now want an electric to play slide and practice the blues.

If anyone can help, please? Plans? Ideas? Websites?manything to point me in the right direction,

better to use an 8 ohm speaker or two 4 ohms wired to create an 8 ohm load
