After a couple of weeks getting myself sorted out, I've completed my first build.

Poplar neck, dollar store box, drapery grommet, and tuning machines from the local music store. The next challenge is to get it tuned and learn something.

Michael,

Nice! I like the Sharkfin headstock.

Very nice-and you Fretted the very first model! You're a braver soul than I was with my prototype...

love the way the strings line up on the head. was the head added or part of a one piece neck. I am on my first build and gathering my supplies now...P
I cut a small diagonal piece from the end of the headstock, turned it around and glued the flat edges together. I made sure that it was aligned well with the both the slope of the cut and the two faces. I clamped it and allowed the joint to dry overnight. I then cleaned it up with a small plane and sand paper.
Sweet ! I am in the middle of my first build, been a challenge so far but with the help of folks on the blog I fixed everything I screwed up and made a promise to myself to measure twice, think, and cut once. today has been a good building day...P
