Any thoughts on mounting a magnetic (std electric guitar) pickup under the 1/4" wood lid (COHOBA box)? Better to cut a hold and mount exposed? I would really hate to mess the logo up unnecessarily.

Thanks.

It sounds just the same to me! In essence all it does is extend the magnets.... in a lazy, easy to do way :o)
Hey, one more thought...
If you left the metal bar flush with the lid, you could even paint it to match the logo again - from anything more than a foot away it would look like there was no pickup at all!
Guys, I tried a piece of iron bar 1/8x1/2 on my electric 6 string and it doesn't hurt the sound and prolly would work just as Randy says. You know, I might not even care if the pieces stick out. Two together perpendicular sticking out of the lid (1/4x2 1/4) would not even look too bad. I could even tilt the pickup like a strat's to allow for the pickup to catch all 4 strings.... Hmmmmmm. Thoughts a'brewin'.
Good show Wes :o) Heres another idea too - not one of mine, but Juju (aka 'soundsogood') sent me this sketch when I was working with the same thoughts. Im sure he wont mind me pasting it up here. The idea is this - just cos you have a 6 string pickup, you dont have to have a full width piece of metal poking thru the top - shape the 'blade part to suit your build. Simples :o)

Awwww, this is too great!!!!!! We need to do some sort of article on this. Gracias.
