This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Just got a set of tap shoe soles at a rummage sale. Thinking of using one of the sets to make a stomp plate of some sort...

Sounds like a good idea, like a set of spoons controlled by your foot?

A little bit. I'm now thinking of the configuration and wondering if I'll put piezos on it or not...

I would use a piezo and make it as a stomp box effect. You could make it like a 2 into 1 effect with foot tap on wood and foot tap for the tap shoe pieces.

Good idea. I thought about it and it took me a while to make a plan. I had never seen tap soles before and didn't know that they were actually 2 pieces of metal held together by loose fitting rivets.

Now I just need to go and get me some lumber and start cutting...

Look forward to seeing that.

Hi, Timothy's recent post of his very fine neck rod routing jig prompted me to show two of mine as a way of sharing a few more ideas, as mine are slightly different.

the larger jig was a 2008 updated version of the one I had like Tim's, but this one is adjustable so as  to be able to take different size neck blanks.

The smaller one is what I use now. It is easier to store away and is also adjustable to accommodate different neck sizes. I use the same trimmer in many different bases for many different jobs.

. Cheers Taff

thanks Taff , i am going to stick with the 40 x 18 tassie oak from bunnings fo my necks so i didnt need the jig to be adjustable. but seeing yours i must admit i didnt even think about adjustability...  maybe if i make anything with a wider neck i can make one then..

nice jigs as usual Taff

Just when you think you've made the perfect jig, someone comes along with a different take and you smack your forehead saying "why didn't I think of that?". LOL

Dead right Paul, I'm currently building a fingerboard radiusing jig to use with my router, for six string necks, wanna know how many times I've slapped my forehead? Ha ha.

Taff

If you told me I'd probably forget from all the times I've smacked mine. ;)

This one came off the bench yesterday.. Pretty happy with it though as with all builds there is always things you'd do differently.. Camacho box, Jarrah neck with Leopard wood on the headstock.. Fretboard is Indonesian Rosewood and Maple with Mother Of Pearl dots.. Seymour Duncan pickup with a 22mf Sprague capacitor.. Tailpiece is a composite of 2 NZ native woods, Macrocarpa and Rimu.., Sounds a treat.. Now on to the next one, it never stops one day I'll learn to play one of these things
