Removing a Fingerboard
Hi, there has been some discussion about bowed necks and removing fingerboard in recent posts so I thought I would cover a method here of removing a fingerboard.
I use a number of different ways to heat the fingerboard [hereafter called the F/B] but I've shown the heater you all have.
The top of the guitar is of course protected. Start prying at the bridge end.
I have never "cooked" a f/b using this method, be careful of plastic inlays tho.
As the glue loosens hot spatulas do the rest. Work slow making sure not to bite into the woodgrain.
This should be easier on a 3 - 4 string CBG.
Short and sweet.

Yep, dead right. I have a range of heat type guns but I find for this job I want to work on the f/b with one spatular while the others are heating, that way I do not have to stop the removal process to heat a spatular.

Yes, I've used heat to loosen this glue on fingerboards and bridges. Or steam depending on the job.
