if it's a piezo,the only thing that counts is if the 2 wires hit the jack without a joint issue,anything you add is just more of the same

generally piezo's don't require string grounding,all i can suggest is to confirm your solder joints are sound,your wiring to and from the vol pot is correct,if all that is ok,disconnect the pot,and just go piezo to jack,that should be pretty fool proof,from there,the next likely issue is a bad pot. If you can manage to either post a clear pic,or drawing of your circuit,someone might be able to narrow it down

Well I have nylon strings. The set up is basic two 27 mil. Piezo and 1 jack. When I built it I didn't have a issue. Now after a few years of banging around. I have this hum. I tried several amps and 1/4 cables. So it got to be a bad solder. So I have a new set up coming. With a vol.pot so I will work this out. Just a pita got to tear it all down.
