I have not built one yet, but I see lots of paint can lids, bunt pans cheap aluminum pots, and tuna cans, Anything that is thin and tin I guess, course their is a fav which is the bed pan.
Gotta say it really resos if you can find the pan it looks wild and sounds like nothing else.

i used a 9 inch pie pan that sounded amazing. it was the metal pie pan not the throw away foil ones.

Im currently building one with an 8.25" bundt pan. I dont know what it will sound like. But Im not the first to do it with a bundt pan either.

How is the sound from this one? I have something real similar in the works. I have a stainless pot-lid that has a really nice ring to it. I have never made a resonator before and I want to use this pot-lid. It looks a lot like the hub-cap you have pictured here. If I discover that many have had great results using this type of thing, I will commit to building with it. Right now it's just an idea.

i have also used a lowecone and it sounds absolutely incredible. also very cost friendly! worth it all the way as it is now my primary cbg in use!

If u really wanna try something else, these suggestions are all real good, coffee tin lids, u dont even need to cut the box, just use it as a riser between saddle and box..

And I second the nominaion for barefoot cajun as a reference for all things reso! A real standup fella! Ive asked him several questions on builds and he wont hesitate to offer help and explanations on how its done, or atleast how he does it. His creations are down right amazing in thier simplicity. He is a true inspiration in my book.

Wow! Thanks y'all for all the ideas and links. I am new to CBG building, and to this site, and y'all are awesome.

All the ideas are interesting, but skeesix, I listened to all your sound samples, and I think I'll try the small paint can lid. It sounded great and should be easy to do. (I also have a few lying around my shop.) Your little experiment was very helpful.

I've only built one and I used the top of a girl-scout cooking set. It's an aluminum lid about 6" in diameter and maybe 1 1/2" deep...Sounds very good indeed.

Another source I intend to try is the reflector from those clamp-on "shop lights" you can buy at hardware stores for under 10 bucks. These are light-gauge aluminum, and would only require being cut to the right "depth" for your box.
